He drew so much from Bonhoeffer that I turned back to Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship. It seems like most of the discussion around this book centers on Bonhoeffer's subsequent life and death as a martyr in Nazi Germany. Ken Boa turns his attention to Dietrich Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship. Second, it is more accurate to say that he was arrested, imprisoned and executed because of the grace-filled, costly discipleship about which he wrote and which he consistently lived from 1932 to his death on April 9, 1945.
